Big Society: Fig leaf for cuts or opportunity for empowerment? CDX Regional events 2010
Tuesday 10th August 2010, 13:08
Is the “Big Society” a fig leaf for public sector cuts, or an opportunity for ‘bottom-up’ community development and collective action?
We have now opened booking for our regional events on the following dates and locations:
- West Midlands: Thursday 30 September, Tamworth
- East Midlands: Tuesday 5 October, Lincoln
- North West: Thursday 14 October, Manchester
- Yorkshire & the Humber: Tuesday 19 October, Sheffield
- North East: Thursday 21 October, Darlington
- South East: Thursday 11 November, Maidstone
- South West: Thursday 25 November, Bristol
Our regional events will provide information about the current policy landscape and what it means for community development, as well as a space to discuss the gaps between Big Society aspirations and reality, looking at what is already working and how we can support it.
Who should attend:

- Community activists, organisers and volunteers
- Policy-makers
- Anyone working with the voluntary and community sector
