Understanding Contracts: the legal implications
Do you:
work for an organisation that is contracted or subcontracted to deliver public services, or involved in supporting organisations that deliver public services?
find contract agreements are often lengthy, technical and difficult to understand?
want to understand the legal implications of contracts before you sign?
In partnership with NAVCA's Local Commissioning and Procurement Unit, this one-day training has been developed by Michelmores law firm, a leading provider of legal services to charities. The training will be delivered by Shivaji Shiva, their Head of Charities and Social Enterprise.
By the end of the day you will:
- have a basic awareness and understanding of the legal status of contracts
- understand common contract clauses, legal terms and implications for voluntary sector organisations
- be aware of potential pitfalls and 'danger signs' in order to know when to seek clarification or further notice
- understand how contracts might be negotiated following a tender process.
Overall outcome
You will better understand the implications of signing a contract and so be better equipped to negotiate contract terms.
