Lifting the Lid on Stress
A National Mental Health Conference on the subject of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Post Traumatic Stess Disorder is a condition, which mental health service providers are seeing in many forms and in growing numbers. Not only in the members of our armed forces currently serving in Afganistan and those who served in conflicts in Iraq and Kuwait, who may experience difficulties when returning home, but also in individuals working in our public services, ambulance, police, fire. Also affected are mental health care practitioners such as social workers and nurses as well as individuals who have experienced some form of abuse either as a child or an adult.
To help address these issues, Southend Mind will be holding a one day conference, entitled "Lifting the Lid on Stress" where they will be bringing together health care practitioners, service providers and users from across the UK to develop a better understanding of this condition and to outline some of the services and strategies available to help the clients we encounter.
