Common Goals, Different Attitudes – the Power of Community Relationships

The Big Society comes to Berkshire

The Community Council for Berkshire (CBB) is running a Big Society conference to show how to improve citizenship, neighbourliness, social networks and community involvement.

Common Goals, Different Attitudes – the Power of Community Relationships conference will aim to help local authorities and community organisations build Social Capital to strengthen, galvanise and improve society.

CCB chief executive Elaine Cook explains: “The new coalition Government has pledged to put more power and opportunity into people’s hands through the Big Society.

“This links directly with our conference Common Goals, Different Attitudes – the Power of Community Relationships which will provide real practical examples of how the Government’s aspirations may work in practice.”

“The conference offers delegates who want to enrich and empower communities through services and projects in the public and voluntary sectors the opportunity to discuss how to build Social Capital. I hope that conclusions and new partnerships formed through the conference will influence local, regional and national policies to help implement the Big Society.”
