Charities, Social Enterprises and Public Service Delivery: Unlocking the Third Sector

As part of a series of broader policy pledges the new coalition Government recently outlined, in ‘The Coalition: Our Programme for Government’, a number of key commitments on front-line public service delivery and the role of the third sector. Central to the new Government’s political vision is Big Society – the relinquishment of excessive governmental control over the delivery of public services and putting power back into the hands of people and local communities.

This special Public Policy Exchange symposium offers a timely opportunity for the third sector, local authorities and key stakeholders to:

  • Examine how to cultivate a thriving environment for the third sector in every community and encourage social action and responsibility
  • Consider changes to commissioning, procurement and future funding streams
  • Discuss how to deliver public services at greater scale, providing value for money and innovative solutions
  • Explore how to strengthen partnership working across all sectors to deliver tailored solutions for local problems
